PENTANDRIA Pentagynia.
Gen. Char. Calyx 5-cleft, persistent, inferior,
funnel-shaped, plaited, scarious above. Corolla
5-parted. Capsule not bursting. Flowers in a
head with an inverted cylindrical sheath.
Spec. Char. Leaves broadly linear or linear:lanceo-
late, 3-5-nerved, narrowed below. Scape glabrous.
Outer involucral bracts cuspidate; intermediate
obtuse, mucronate; inner broadly obtuse.
Pedicels not half as long as the villoso-striate tube
of the calyx.
