Gen. Char. Calyx 5-parted. Corolla rotate; tube
very short or almost wanting; limb 5-parted.
Stamens inserted at the base of the corolla, with
or without 5 alternating barren filaments, free,
or more or less connected at the base. Capsule
5-valved.
Spec. Char. Stem erect. Peduncles axillary, opposite
or whorled, racemose. Leaves opposite or
in fours, ovate-lanceolate, subcordate, with ciliated
stalks. Petals roundish, crenate, obtuse, pointed.
Filaments 10, free, 5 with anthers, 5 barren.
