T hi s Spider was o f a dark hair-colour, with a finall Hroke o f a
lighter colour on the upper fide, o f the belly, and ftreak o f light colour
on the back, bordered on each fide with black, it looks all over with a
loft downy look : it had long feelers, and eight eyes Handing as they
are exprefled in the Plate. It was taken in a garden at Hackney ^ a-
bout the middle o f A p r il.
A n o t h e r o f the fame kind was taken about the middle o f May,
with a large bag o f eggs faftned to its tail, the outfide o f which was
white, with a call o f blew. There has been found feveral degrees in
bignefs o f thefe Spiders, and the colours the lame ; fo that they do not
alter or change their colours as they grow bigger. An endeavour was
made to take the egg from it • but fhe was not willing to part with
at, but flrove to hold it by clapping her legs about it a great many
itimes : and when taken away, would run to it, and catch hold o f it,
(endeavouring to pull it to her again.

T h i s finall Spider was black on the back; the upper fide o f the
belly had a black line running through the middle o f it, with a border
o f white on each fide o f it, crofled on each joint by a finall black
lin e ; the feelers were very finall. It had eight eyes Handing in a fe-
micircular form, as they are exprefled in the Plate. It was taken in a
dry bank near IJlington, on the fourteenth o f A p ril.

T h i s longifh Spider hath a Hripe o f orange-colour on the middle
o f its back, and down the middle o f the upper fide o f the' belly,
edged with- a border o f black • the out-edges o f which are compofed
o f finall black lines, which make a faint lhade ending in white. Its
