CHARACTER SPECIFICUS.
Fringilla capite ferrugineo, dorfo caftaneo, remigibus reftricibus lunulaque gularl nlgris, abdomine
albido.
Remiges macula caerulea, apice albse : uropygium caruleum.
SPECIFIC CHARACTER, &c.
Finch with ferruginous head, cheihut back, wing and tail feathers black, and belly whitiih.
The remiges are marked with a blue fpot, and are tipped with white: the rump is blue.

THIS is a bird of great elegance: the bill is of a dufky or blackiih colour: the head, neck,
and back, bright ferruginous; the back fomewhat darker than the reft: the fmaller coverts are
tipped with white, and the greater ftightly edged with white: the remiges, or long feathers of
the wings, are black, with a fpot or mark of blue near their extremities, and llightly tipped
with white: the tail is black: the rump of a bright blue: acrofs the throat is a crefcent of
black; the ends pointing upwards on each fide: the remainder of the breaft and belly are yellowiih
white: the legs are blackiih. It is a native of India.

CHARACTER SPECIFICUS.
Motacilla fupra ferruginea, fubtiis flava, remigibus caudaque nigris, gula caerulea.
GENERIC CHARACTER.
Bill fubulate, (awl-fliaped) ftrait; mandibles nearly equal.
Nojlrils obovate.
Toiigue emarginated in a lacerated or jagged manner.
SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
Motacilla of a ferruginous colour above, yellow beneath, with black wing and tail-feathers,
and blue throat.
THE beautiful Motacilla here reprefented is a native of South America. The upper parts of
the head, neck, and back, are bright ferruginous brown: the wing-coverts tipped with white:
the remiges and tail black: the coverts of the tail and the whole under parts of the bird are of
a bright yellow, except the chin, which is blue, and a few flight undulations of blue are continued
a little below the chin: the beak and legs are brown.
