S P E C I F I C CHARACTER.
Reddiill-brown Cuckow, with bifid orange-coloured creft; the two exterior tail-feathers white,
the reft tipped with white.
THIS bird is a native of the Eaft Indies, and feems to be in fome degree allied to the Cuculus
cornutus, or horned Cuckow, defcribed by Willoughby, Ray, Briflbn, BuiFon, and others, but
differs greatly in its colours and in the proportional length of its tail. Its particular hiftory
and manners remain unknown, it being a new and hitherto undefcribed ijaecies.
