GENERIC CHARACTER.
CAL. Perianth two-leaved, fuperior: Leaflets roundifti, concave, expanding, coriaceous, permanent,
of the breadth of a thumb, patulous.
CoE. Petals four; ovate, equal, expanding, coriaceous, thrice as large as the calyx. NeHary
one-leaved, tubular, conic, furrounding the bafe of the ftyle, fomewhat coriaceous,
(confining as it were of the rudiments of filaments conjoined) toothed at tire top :
teeth many, fubulate, unequal, converging.
STAM. extremely numerous, monadelphous, or conjoined into a cylinder from their bafe, feated
on the receptacle, fubulate, twice the length of the petals. Anthers roundiili, with
a channelled margin, gaping.
