Stem shrubby, branching, rough, and rugged, occasioned
by the bases of the footstalks ; branches

reflexed. Nectariferous tube short, keeled on each
side, about half the length of the calyx. Petals 5, unequal,
the 2 uppermost largest, nearly orbicular, of a
dark red colour, reticulately marked with numerous
black lines, which gives the whole a dark velvetty apbpelaacrakn

warts (not regularly warted as in P. tricolor): lower
petals oblong or narrowly obovate, concave, white.
Filaments 10, very hairy, united at the base, 5 only
