Alabamensis—Named from Alabama, where found growing.
An interesting dwarf Fern, but little known in cultivation
in this country.
A greenhouse species.
N a tiv e of Canada, Southern U n ited States, growing on
limestone rocks, on the banks of the Tenessee R iv e r, Alabama.
F ro n d s glabrous, sub-coriaceous, lanceolate, and acuminate;
below, b ip in n a te ; above, pinnated-pinnatifid. P rim a ry pinme
approximate.
Sori continuous all rou n d the lobes and pinnules.
Caudcx creeping, brown in colour, with brown woolly scales.
Stipes, rachis, and main secondary rachis glossy black, and
hirsute.
L en g th of frond from three to five inches.
