Rhizoma u p rig h t, or slightly creeping, and covered with
hrowii scales. ^
Stipes and rachis destitute of scales.
Usual len g th o f frond twenty-four inches, of which the
lower ten inches are naked. Usual b re ad th eighteen inches;
colour a heavy green.
T h e fronds are stout in substance, and more or less erect
ill habit.
