In tro d u c ed into the Royal Gardens, K ew , in the year 1844,
having been received from Mr. Hen d e rso n , and being previously
introduc ed into E n g la n d in 1832.
Fro n d s lanceolate-acuminate and b ip in n a te ; pinnæ linear-
acuminate and a lte rn a te ; th e segments ohovate, and in the
sterile ones crenate; fertile segments concave. Stipes, rachis,
and midrib of pinnæ ebeneous, and clothed with small brown
scales.
Sori continuous and confluent; indusium small.
Terminal, ad h e ren t to a short creeping rhizoma.
L en g th o f frond from ten to eighteen inches; colour deep
green.
