T h e sterile fronds ovate-lanceolate in form, and p in n a te ; the
pinnæ being linear-lanceolate, coriaceous, and a cu te ; inferior
sub-petiolate, supe rior adnate, base decumbent, and the margin
en tire ; pinnæ approximate, opposite n e a r the base of th e frond,
sub-opposite in the centre of th e fro n d , and a lternate n ear the
apex. T e rm in a l p in n a la rg e r th an those n ear th e apex of the
frond. F e rtile fronds p innate, the pinnæ being lin e a r and acute.
F ro n d s termina l, and ad h e ren t to an e re c t rhizoma.
Stipes and rachis scaly, especially n e a r th e base ; th e scales
red d ish brown in colour.
Veins forked.
Sori linear and continuous.
M r. Moore remarks th a t on the Organ M o unta ins this
species produces a th ick caudex, four feet hig h , which, with
th e fronds at the top, have much resemblance to some species
of Zamice.
L e n g th of frond twenty-four inches; colour deep green.
