T h is ra re and interesting species is almost unknown to
F e rn cultivators in this country. I t is a dw a rf species.

Native of Tropical America.
T h e fronds, which are p innate, have the pinnæ opposite or
sub-opposite. T h e sterile frond is equal in width except
ne a r the base and apex, where it becomes attenuated, and
indeed v ery suddenly so at the base, where th e pinnæ have
more the character of d e cn rrcn t segments. P innæ crowded,
sessile, h a lf an inch in len g th , and having the apex somewhat
rounded.
F e rtile frond v ery much contracted, somewhat erect, and
the pinnæ linear.
