WOODAVARDIA. Swartz.
A SMALL and v ery dissimilar-looking family, with pinnate
fronds. Veins reticu la ted , becoming free near the margin.
Sori oblong, or linear-elongated, unise rial, and immersed, formed
upon the transverse costal venules. In d u sium revolute and
vaulted. Rhizoma creeping.
Fro n d s from twelve to seventy inches in length.
This genus is named after Air. AVoodward, an E n g lish
botanist.
