butterfly frequents gardens and fields among melon blofloms, and is alfo found in
Virginia. .
Mr. Abbot mentions origanum, common and red carelefs, and lamb’s quarters, as the'
food of this infe£t, plants whofe fcientific-names we cannot certainly determine, though they
might be gueffed at. Perhaps the firft may be the pretty Monarda funftata, on which - he has
drawn the caterpillar.
