By the firft mentioned oak we take it for grlhted Mr. Abbot means that reprefented in
the figure, which is Quercus rubra, and comes neareft to the variety (3. of Hart. Kew.
This little butterfly muft be inferted between the Spini of Fabricius and the Quercus; it
feems very nearly allied to the former, though fomewhat different in all its three ftates. It is
alfo very near Betidte and Prutii of Linnaeus, but we think the characters given above will
fufficiently diftinguifh it.
