T h i s was taken in Ju n e on the beautiful climbing fhrub here delineated, b u t is
moll commonly to be met w ith in th e chryfalis Rate on th e blades o f Indian corn,
Zea Mays, in which it enfolds itfelf. I t changed th e 21 ft o f Ju n e , and came out
th e 29th. I t is alfo found in V irginia, h u t is n o t near fo common as th e laft de-
fcribed.
The tribe of butterflies to which this and the neighbouring ones belong is remarkable for
the Render neck of the larva, and a certain fimilitude between the different foecies runs
through all their Rates, particularly the pellucid fpots on the upper wings.
