in its winged ftate Augufl 4. This Ipecies has been found only in th e pine woods
o n the n o rth fide o f Briar Creek, near Mill T ow n plantation.
Having no mode of determining this fly but by the defcription of Fabricius, nor any
figure to refer to, we have thought it bell to affix a mark of doubt, though the characters,
agree well with Mr. Abbot’s drawings ; but in fo intricate a tribe even the bed: defcriptions,
fuch as thofe of Fabricius really are, will not always be fufficient.
