P. P. alis fubcaudatis fufcis nigro dentatis; primoribus utrinque fafcia flava; poflicis fubtus
bafi fufco nebulofis extus albis.
F e e d s on the Hedyfarum called Beggar’s lice, from the feeds Ricking to people’s
clothes. I t changed to a chryiklis Ju ly lo , and to a butterfly 23d. This is a common
fpecies, and continues breeding molt p a rt o f th e fummer.
The plant here reprefented can be no other than H. paniculatum, though the leaves are
broader than in the fpecimen of Linnaeus, and but ill agree with his definition.
The infeCt is allied to P. Tityrus, to Epitus Fabr. and Thrax Linn, but we believe it perfectly
nondefcript, more efpecially as we are informed by Mr. Jones that Profeflor Fabricius,
in making defcriptions from his drawings, paded over the figure of this.
