SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
H E A T H , with crested tips, within the blossom,
Leaves by threes. Branches thread-shaped. The
flowers g r ow by threes, are small, pitcher-shaped,
and of a deep flesh colour. The leaves of the
cup are longer than the flower.
D E S C R I P T I O N .
STEM thread-shaped, a span high, between
erect and spreading, and wry much branched.
LEAVES by threes, lance-shaped, furrowed beneath,
flat on the upper surface, smooth, and
pressed to the branches.
FLOWERS grow by threes, and terminate the
smaller branches. The footstalks are fleshcoloured,
and furnished with three; small coloured
floral leaves.
E M P A L E M E N T . Cup four-leaved; the leaflets
arc spathula-shaped, flesh-coloured, and longer
than the blossom.
BLOSSOM very small, pitcher-shaped, o f a deep
flesh-colour, and pale at the base ; tin; segments
o f the border spreading.
C H I V E S . Eight hair-like threads ; tips crested,
and within the blossom.
P O I N T A I . . Seed-bud turban-shaped. Shall
within the blossom, and thread-shaped. Summit
four-angled, and rolled back.
