SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
H e a t h , with tips two-homed at the base, and
just without the blossom : (lowers grow from the
axilla- of the leaves, are pitcher-shaped, and
purple: footstalks long: leaves by threes, spathula
shaped, and glandular: branches numerous,
and flexuose.
D E S C R I P T I O N .
STEM shrubby, a foot and a half high: the
smaller and larger branches are numerous,
flexuose, and between erect and spreading.
LEAVES by threes, spathnla-'hnped, flat on their
upper surface, keeled beneath, and whitish: with
glandular margins rolled back.
FLOWERS grow near the ends of the branches,
singly, from the axilla' of the leaves: footstalks
l o n e coloured, and glaudular.
EMPALEMEXT. Cup four-leaved : leaflets
ovalely-pointed, with rcvolute glandular margins.
BLOSSOM pitcher-shaped, smooth, and purple:
the segments of the border are obtuse, and upright.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads: tips twohorned
at the base, and just within the blossom.
PoiNTA!.. Seed-bud lnrban--haped, slightly
furrowed, hairy on the upper part, with honeycups
at the ba*e. Shaft thread-shaped. Summit
four-cornered.
