together; blossom cylindrical, of a yellowish
white ; the segments o f the mouth are o f a deep
purple. Stein drooping. Leaves by threes.
D E S C R I F T I O N .
A DWARF shrub, scarce a foot high, harsh,
and very much branched.
LEAVES by threes, awl-shaped, three-sided,
and mucronated ; furrowed beneath, and smooth
on the upper surface, fiat, and o f a deep green
colour.
FLOWERS grow by threes at the ends of the
small branches, hanging down, with very short
foot-stalks.
E M P A L E M E N T . Cup double, the outer threeleaved
; leaflets lance-shaped and harsh; the
inner four-leaved, and longer than the outer.
BLOSSOM cylindrical, of a yellowish while;
the segments of the border spreading, and of ;i
deep purple.
C H I V E S . Eight threads flat and close together,
forming a tube ; tips beardless, without the
blossom, and spreading.
P O I N T A L . Seed-bud turban-shaped. Shaft
thread-shaped. Summit four-cornered anil
hollow.
