HEATH, with beardless tips, w itbout the blossom.
Flowers hairy, pitcher-shaped, and white. Cup
hairy, with green edges. Leavesbv threes, rolled
hack at the edges, and hairy. Stem weak.
D E S C R I P T I O N .
STEM shrubby, flexuose, and o f a purplish
colour. The small and large branches are threadshaped,
and hairy.
LEAVES by threes, linear, blunt, and rolled
back at the edges ; the older ones spreading, the
younger ones ascending: the edges rough with
long hairs.
FLOWERS g r ow at the extremitv o f the smaller
branches, mostly by threes, hanging down. T h e
footstalks are long, of a red colour, with three
small tioral leaves pressed to them.
EMPALEMENT. Cup four-leaved. Leaflets
broadh egg-shaped, furrowed, and covered with
long white hairs: the edges of the cup are o f a
bright green colour.
BLOSSOM pitcher-shaped, hairv. and white:
the segments of the border are obtuse, and upright.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads; tips beardless,
and without the blossom.
POIXTAL. Seed-bud turban-shapid, downy,
and glandular at the base. Shaft thread-shaped,
a little longer than the chives. Summit fourcornered.
Native of the Cape o f Good Hope.
Flower- from February till June.
