SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
HEATH, with beardless tips, within the blossom.
Flowers tubular, and grow in umbels. Blossoms
of a pale colour. Leaves by threes, and
downy.
DESCRIPTION.
STEM low, shrubby, half a foot high. The
small and large branches are numerous, and
spreading.
LEAVES by threes, awl-shaped and downv, flat
on the upper surface, furrowed beneath, and of
a whitish green.
FLOWERS terminate the branches in umbels o f
from three to six, nearly sessile, and furnished
with three lance-shaped floral leaves.
EMPALEMEXT. Cup four-leaved ; leaflets spathula
shaped, and o f a pale colour.
BLOSSOM tubular, of a yellowish white colour,
and standing in a horizontal direction. Segments
o f the border roundish, and between erect
and spreading.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like filaments; tips beardless,
and within the blossom.
P O I N T A L . Seed-bud turban-shaped.. Shaft
without the blossom, and thread-shaped. Summit
four-cornered.
Native o f the Cape of Good Hope.
Flowers from April till July.
