SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
HEATH, with beardless tips within the blossom ;
llowers o f an inflated tubular form, hairy, ribbed,
and o f a transparent « bite ; leaves bv fours,
prickly ; stein slender, harshly haired, and much
branched.

STEM slender, a fool and a half high, and
harshly haired ; the small and larger branches
an; numerous, hairy, and llexuose.
LEAVES by fours, lauce-shaped, shiniiiir,
prickly, and deeply furrowed beneath ; footstalks
pressed to the stem.
FLOWERS terminate the small branches, mostly
bv fours, and nodding; footstalks long, glandular,
and furnished with three lance—haped glandular
floral leaves.
EMPALEMEHT four-leaved ; leaflets lanceshaped,
channelled, and glandular.
BLOSSOM of an inflated tubular form, hairy,
ribbed, while, and transparent; the segments of
the border are half round, and nearly upright.
CHIVES. Eight capillary thread-; lips beardless,
and within the blossom.
P O I N T A L , Seed-bud turban-shaped, and furrowed.
Shaft thread-shaped. Summit fourcornered.
Native o f the Cape o f Good Hope.
Flowers from November till June.
