q p H I S little plant grows on fticks or roots-, near fome rill or
ltream of water.
It confife of a little hzrd pilous, fmooth, ilippery, and of a
yellow ophre colour on the upper fide ; it is Supported W a round
item, a line m length, of ^ iblid and firm confiftencc, and together
vyith Ae undcrfide of the pileus, is/ of a diiiky black. '
The lower figures on the plate are the natural fizeof the plant
the three upper are magnified. '
The fpecimens, here figured and defcrihed, grew by the flream
of the fpnng at Bell-Bank near § g g g It grew upon fmall
branches of elm root, which had been waihed bare by the ¿ream,
and were itill within the reach of its fprinklings.
