ÏETCHOLOMA jiileo camosulo, obtuso, lævi, glabrello, expallente ; stipite subfarcto,
brevi, rigido, sursum incrassato, pruinoso ; lamellis latissimis, confertissimis,
candidis.
Pileus somewhat fleshy, hemispherical th en convexo-plane or deqiressed,
obtuse, smooth, becoming pallid, seldom exceeding one inch ; gills very
broad behind, rounded, very crowded, wliite ; stem somewhat stuffed, short,
rigid, thickened upwards, pruinose, reddish tlien white, an inch high, a line
and a h a lf thick, minutely scaly.—Fries.
Gills pale pu rp lish buff, somewliat wavy and occasionally forked ; spores
■0001" X ’00007". Among sh o rt grass. King’s Weston Down, ne a r Clifton,

Pileus fleshy, tliin, soft, oamqianulate th en expanded, umbonate, dry,
covered with a soaly-iioccose innate down, an inch to two inches and a half
broad ; gills adnexed witli a d ecurrent tootli, crenulate, of a greyish white
colour; stem stuffed, at length hollow, snbequal, white with adpressed
fibrillæ, an inch to th re e inches higli, one-fourtli to h a lf an inch tliick, very
brittle. H ab ita t, in woods, especially of fir.—Fries.
Pileus densely tomentose ; stem stuffed ; gills greyish white ; spores
nearly spherical, '0002" dia. On th e ground under fir trees. Sandwich,
Kent, 7th Oct. 1848. T h is species occasionally grows in great numbers
in a small space.
