Steopuaria stipite cavo, molli, baud viscido, albo ; aimulo augusto, albo ; pileo
carnoso, glabro, nudo, viscoso, glutinoso, lácteo, dein ærugineo-virente ;
lamellis adnatis.
Pileus fleshy, convex th en plane, glahrous, always naked, never scaly,
viscid, h u t the gluten limpid and n o t coloured, when young shining milky,
th en of a verdigris-green ; stem hollow, soft, th en fragile, ahont two inches
long, th re e to four lines thick, equal, ascending, bent, nearly naked beneath,
pruinose above th e ring, n o t viscid, entirely white and dry ; ring permanent,
narrow, white th en dusky from the spores ; gills adnate, thin, scarcely
crowded, broadish, a t first fleshy, white th en tu rn in g dusky ; flesh soft,
watery. H ab ita t, meadows and damp grassy places ; sometimes cæspitose ;
th e pellicle of the pileus scarcely separable.—Fries.

Stropharia stipite flstuloso, flexuoso, molli ; pileo carnoso, subumbonato, glabro,
glutinoso ; lamellis adnatis, deute decurrente ; lamellis adnatis.
Pileus fleshy, convex-plane, suhumhonate, an in ch to two inches wide,
viscid, glabrous, pale yellow, h u t appearing livid purple from th e dense
gluten, somewhat stria ted a t the margin ; stem fistulöse, th re e inches long,
th in , equal, very flexuose, often decumbent, very soft, dry, shining, silky,
fibrillose below th e median ring ; gills adnate with a decurrent too th , three
lines wide, scarcely crowded ; spores brown-purple ; flesh thin, soft, white.
Gregarious, subcæspitose. I n grassy places.—Fries.
T h e specimens of th is species, which is new to our Flora , were
forwarded by Mr. W. Marshall, of E ly , and were found by him in the
p arish churchyard of tlia t place, growing upon buried chips, or perhaps a
stump, Nov. 1870. Spores '00034" x '00023".
