inserto, deorsum erecto et stipiti adglutinato, sulcato ; sed limbo ejusdem

Pileus thin, almost diaphanous, convex, hemispherical, th en expanded,
obtuse, more or less radito-rugose, glutinous, commonly sh in in g ; gills
rounded behind, obtuse, adhering to th e stem and decurrent, distant,
mucous, always shining ; stem stuffed, rigid, thin, one and a h a lf to three
inches long, a line to two lines thick a t th e apex, four lines th ick at the
base, glabrous, white ; annulus inse rted a t the apex of th e stem, ben t and
glued downwards, furrowed, with its limb again erect ; white, with a tumid
entire margin. Size variable from an inch to six inches. Cæspitose,
inodorous. H ab ita t, tru n k s of beeches.—Fries.
Pileus regular in outline, upper p a rt sometimes wrinkled, when wet
covered with thick slime ; stem sh o rt and small, solid or hollow, furrowed
above the rin g and bulbous ; annulus pe rsisten t and dark brown ; gills
distant, wavy, thin, deep and ventricose, pale creamy white with a pinkish
