B oletus stip ite crasso, re ticu late ; pileo pulvinato, sicco, alutaceo-pallido ; tu b u lis
subliberis, flavis, ore co n co lo ri; carne albida, caBi'ulescente.
Pileus pulvinate, dry, slightly tomentose, pallid ; tubes somevfhat elongated,
sh o rte r round th e stem, nearly free, round, taw n y ; th e mouth of the
same colour, never r e d ; stern th ick , firm, a t first ovato-bulbous, reticitlated,
varied with tawny and r e d ; flesh thick, whitish, becoming slightly blue,
and th e pores a t length greenish.—Fries.
Pileus leathery, smooth and polished when dry, brownish white with a
fa in t green tinge of colour, margin irregular, somewhat c re n a te ; stem
lemon-white, reticulated, solid ; flesh changing rapidly from white to indigo-
hlue when exposed to l ig h t ; tubes lemon, with th e ir orifices uneven and
h-regular in size ; spores ’0005" x -OOOSS". Growing on the ground under
trees, U pper Ga tto n , Surrey, 13th Oct. 1861.
