Nat. Or. Orclhidàcecc. A noble Orchid, with
lloAvers somewhat the colour and ajipearance of
a large Cymbid, but far more showy. It roots
freely in turfy heath-mould, and requires an
ample supply of water during the growing
season. In winter a season of rest is necessary,
when little or no water sliould be given, a
damp atmosphere being sufficient for all the
requirements of the plant. Reg, 30.

comprises some very beautiful species, and
all may be grown in a mixture of loam and
peat, "vvith the addition of a little saud.
The shrubby species propagate readily from
cuttings ; and from the bulbous kinds, offsets
may be obtained. Most of them perfect seed.
ISTone of the species -will thrive if over-watered,
and the bulbous kinds should not have any
