A most beautiful genus of plants,
well adapted for the rafters, columns, and
pillars of the stove, also for trellis-work.
/ . IIoTsfàllioi is exeellen'tly suited for training
to a trellis, where its beautiful bright scarlet
flowers make a lovely appearance, lliey thrive
in loam and peat, mixed with a little dung;
and the perennial kinds are multiijlied from
cuttings in sand without difficulty. The annual
and biennial kinds should be raised on a
hotbed in spring, and afterwards treated as
other half hardy and tender annuals and biennials.
