tliera, a catching; the roots of CE. Uenniz were
formerly taken after meals as incentives to

cem. The Evening Primroses form a genus
of truly beautiful plants, well suited for ornamenting
ilower-borders; they will grow in
any common garden soil. The perennial species
are increased by dividing the plants at
the roots, by seeds, and by cuttings. The
seeds of the annual and biennial kinds merely

1, Nat. Or. Oledceoe. The Olive is a very important
genus of plants, on account of the oil,
&c , which is obtained, chiefly from some of
the varieties of 0. cnropàa. They are also
much admired for the fragrance of then^ flowers,
which renders them worthy of a placo
in every collection. They grow well in loam
and peat ; ripened cuttings root readily in
sand, under a glass. They may also be increased
by grafting on the common priTOt.
