o u t th e 16th. I once met w ith this caterpillar in fuch abundance, th a t among a
great quantity o f Poke plants there was fcarcely a Angle lea f untouched; moft of
thefe caterpillars however we re fly-blown b y a common kind o f Ichneumon. The
moth is rare:
This is allied to our Ph. frugiperda and Commelince. Between the under wings of all thefe
there is the greateft affinity. Their pupa too are of a fimilar bright red colour, and their
fmooth ftriped caterpillars have much refcmblance to each other.
