T h is eats th e leaves o f Beech, Hornbeam, and Plane. One fpun on th e 29th o f
Ju n e , and came o u t th e 25th o f Ju ly ; another fpun th e 11th o f September, and
came o u t the 24th o f April. I t is no t common. I have found them in th eir webs
under the loofe bark o f large Plane trees in fwampy places.
The narrownefs or fhortnefs of the wings diftinguifhes this moth from thofe to which it
is otherwife allied, and its chequered markings are alfo remarkable. We have not found any
defcription or figure applicable to it.
