T h is rare fpecies .feeds on the W ild Plantain, Corn, and Peas. I t formed its web
and enclofed itfelf Ju n e 2 4 th ;. th e moth appeared b h 'th e 5 th .of July.
The hind wings, the abdomen, and the caterpillar of this, all evince its near affinity to the
four Phaheme laft defcribed, however different at firft fight. If in the Ph. Placentia we may
•feem to have followed too much the example of our predeceffors in giving an unmeaning denomination,
we hope to atone for it in the prefent inftance, as thename Ifabella well expreffes
the colour of the moth to -which we have applied it,' and at the fame time preferves the-analogy
of the tribe, being a female proper name.
