T h is caterpillar w as taken in April feeding on th e Carolina Allfpice, and tpun up
in th e leaves the ail o f May, nor did th e moth come out till th e 19th o f February
following. Its moft general food is o f the oak kind.
This is n o t very common in Georgia, b u t more fo in V irginia, whe re th e moth
may frequently b e found fitting on the ground in foot-paths in the tpring.
