This and two or three of the following moths are allied to the tribe called by Englifh
aurelians prominents, to which Phalana Ziczac and Dromedarius of Linnseus belong. Ours
fhould be placed next to thofe, and as they feem to have been named from the appearance of
their larvae, we have called this anguina, from its fhining fnake-like caterpillar, which however
by its projecting tail, and the adjoining tubercle, fufficiently evinces its affinity to the
fpecies juft mentioned. The moth too is more efpecially related to Ziczac by its oval opaline
fpot towards the external margin of the wings, which has occafioned Ziczac to be well denominated
the pebble prominent.
