E a t s th e bud and bloflom o f the R h e x ia , as well as o f th e Tobacco; to th e latter
i t is very pernicious in Virginia and other places, as it deftroys th e main flioot.
T h e lame method is ufed to g et rid o f this as w ith th e P h . fru g ip e rd a , t. q6,
th rowin g h o t fand or w ood-afhes upon th e plants, or elfe the worms are picked off
b y th e hand. One o f them we n t into th e g round, and fpun a web there, Ju ly 25 th,

an d came forth the 13th o f September. T h e moth is n o t very common.
At firft light this moth refembles the Tortrix Praßnana, but it is truly a Noâhta, and,
we think, quite new. It has fome affinity to the lad, and the plant it feeds on is elöfely
allied to the Gaura, which made us prefer naming it from that, rather than from the Tobacco.
