 The monsters  alluded to  were  the  Protestants, whose opposition  
 it  was  expected  would he  destroyed by the birth of  the  
 young Prince.  The triple  support of  the  coronet is,  upon the  
 medal,  the three feathers ;  in reality the three kingdoms.

 This medal was executed in Denmark,  for  distribution  at  a  
 fête  given  by  Sir  Gabriel  Wood,  in  commemoration  of  the  
 birth of  the young Prince, who was  expected  to  dissipate  the  
 storms,  which  threatened  Great  Britain  by  the  Protestant  
 ascendancy.
