tree 15 to 20 feet high; bark of branches very pale. Leaves coriaceous, oblong to
elliptic-obloug, shortly and abruptly acuminate; the base slightly cuueate, rai'cly rounded:

nerves 12 to 15 pairs, sub-horizontal, faint; length 5'5 to 9 in., breadth 1-5 to 2-75 in.;

Pistils about 15, the ovary hairy, ovules 3 to 4; style long, slender, much bent outwards;
stigma sub-capitate, unequally 2-lobed. Ripe fiarjyels narrowly oblong, apiculate,
tapering to each end, glabrous, I'o in, long and '5 in. iu diam.; stalks '1 in. thick.

bracteolate iu the lower half, rusty-pubescent, as are the sepals and outer petals.
Sepals broadly ovate, acute, -2 in. long, deciduous. Petals coriaceous, yellowish outside
and pink inside ; the outer lanceolate, bluntly acuminate, '75 in long; the inner
half as long, bi'oadly ovate, sub-acute. Ovaries pubescent, with stout, clavate, bifid
styles. Ripe carpels ovoid or oblong, apiculato, adpressed-pubesoent, '3 to '5 in. long,

slightly prominent beneath, spreading ; length 7 to 10 in., breadth 2-5 to 3'25 in. ;
petiole -3 in., pubescent. Flowers solitary, axillary; pedicels -25 in., puberulous. Sepals
