glabrous, lenticellate, elliptic-oboToid; the apex mammillate, nai'iwed at the base mto
a short stout pseudo-stalk nearly -5 in. long; length of ripe carpel about 1-5 m.,
diani. 1 in.; perioaip hard, about -l hi. thick. Stxi solitary, narrowly ellipsoid, blunt,

Smm specimens oi this were unfortunately distributed from the Calcutta Herbarium
nnder the Jiss. name of A. macrofkyll»,-^ name pre-occupied by an African species
described by Sir J. D. Hookor (Niga- Mora, 207).

erect shrub; young shoots adpressed-rufons-pubesccnt, slender, but thiekcned and flattened
near the flowering peduncles. Learn» membranous, obovate or oblanceolatc-oblong, subacute
or obtuse, the base acute; both surfaces glabrous, finely reticulate, the lower paler,
and the nerves and midrib sparsely puberulous; main nerves o to 9 paii-s, slender,
spreading; length of blade 4 to 5-5 in., breadth 1-4 to 2-2 in.; petiole 'lo in. Peiuw:hi
flat, puberulous, much hooked; pedicols 2 or 3 from each, slender, pubescent, -8 in. long,
and with several smaU rounded bracteoles near- the base. Flotoen about -Vo in. long,
drooping, yellowish. Sefab connate below the apiccs, acute, reflexed, rufous-pubescent.
Petab craiaceons, oblong, oblanceolate above the basal sac, obtuse; the margins revolute,
densely adprossed-pilose. AntUrs few, broad, slightly apiculate. Ovaries numeroiis,
oblong. Young carfels nan-owly obovoid, tapering much to the base, densely but
minutely pubescent. Ripe earfels unknown. Kar3 for. Fl. Burm. i. 31.

A climber; all parts, except the flower and possibly the fruit, glabrous; young branches
slender, dark-coloured. Leaves thinly coriaceous, ovate-lanceolato, shortly acuminate, the
base ouneate; upper surface shining; the lower dull when young, very minutely scaly,
afterwards glabrous; main nerves 9 to 11 paka, spreading, intor-arching '1 in. from
the edge, slender but rather prominent beneath; length o£ blado 2'23 to 3-25 in.,
breadth -9 to 1-3 i n . ; petiole -2 in. Pedmcle rather slender, 3- to 4-floweted; pedicels
•6 in. long, thickened upivards, puberulous, with a small ovate braoteole at the very

climber 30 to 80 feet long; young branches at first puberulous, afterwards glabrous,'
dark-coloured, striate. Leaves coriaceous, elliptic to elliptic-oblong, abruptly and shortly
acuminate; the base rounded or very slightly narrowed; both surfaces glabrous; the
upper shining, the lower dull; adult leaves pale brown (when dry); main nerves 7 to 10
pairs, spreading or sub-ascending, curved, inter-arching freely -1 to -2 in. from the edge,
prominent on the lower, less so on the upper, surface; length of blade 3-5 to 6 in.,
breadth 2 to 3 in.; petiole '2 to -25 in. Peinneles extra-axillary, rather slender in flower
(stout in fruit), minutely tomentose, bearing 3 or 4 flowers, -75 to 1 in. long.; pedicels
slender, pubescent or glabrescent, from -5 to 1 in. long, ebracteate. Sefals coriaceous,
broadly triangular, sub-acute, slightly conjoined at the base, sub-reflexed, pnborulous
externally, glabrous within, -15 in. long. Petals coriaceous, minutely tomentose, snbequal;
