v ery various in fo rm , bu t more or less o b lon g , c lasp ing the
stem w ith their dilated b a s e ; th e radical ones on fo o tsta lk s .

are lo n g ish and slender, spreading h o r izo n ta lly , and the pods,
w h ich are short and sm all, point upwards. T h e y are o ften
abor tiv e. T h e flowers abound th rough ou t J u ly and A u g u s t.
