 T h e   common  table  Muftard,  whole feeds  are  one  of  the  
 moft ufeful  and wholefome of  flimulants, both in cookery and  
 medicine,  grows  very  frequently  about  the borders  of  fields,  
 hedge  banks,  and wafle ground,  flowering  in June  and July. 
 The root is annual, and fmall.  Stem upright,  throwing out  
 a number of widely fpreading branches,  round, fmooth, leafy.  
 Lower leaves lyrate, rough,  varioufly lobed and toothed;  upper  
 ones  lanceolate,  fpreading or  deflexed,  entire,  quite  fmooth,  
 {landing on fhort footftalks.  Flowers numerous,  bright yellow.  
 Calyx a little tinged with yellow.  Pods fhort,  ereft, and Handing  
 clofe  to  the main  ftalk,  quadrangular,  tipped  with  the  
 fhort  fquare  permanent  ftylej  their furface but  little  uneven,  
 and  generally  quite  dellitute  of  hairs.  Seeds  feveral,  round,  
 xnooth,  brown.
