Maie. Above slaty-blue, with a narrow black sti-ipe down th e centre^of th e feather,
more distinct on the head, which is crested ; wing-feathers blackish, th e in n er web pure
white a t the base extending for h a lf the len g th o f th e feather, th e secondaries tipped with
white and irreg u larly b arred with black on th e in n er web, tlie o u ter web broadly edged vTtli
slaty-blue, with here and th e re a few little spots o f w h ite ; tail blackish, the middle
feathers slaty-blue with only the centre black ; the other feathers edged ex tern ally with
with sla ty-blue aud all more o r less spotted aud b a rred with white ; th ro a t, sides of, and a
collar ro u n d the neck, p u re white ; b rea st deep rich chesnut ; u nder wing-and tail-coverts
with the lower p a rt o f th e abdomen w h ite; b ill d a rk horn-colour ; feet d a rk gi-eyish-brown.
