a little way down th e sides deep lazuli-blue j bill b la c k ; feet d ark olive-brown. Total
len g th 4.8 inches, o f b ill from front 1.3, from gape 1.6, wing 2.4, tail 0.9, tarsu s 0.2,

This beautiful little Kingfisher is a n ativ e o f Jav a, whence i t seems occasionally to
stray into th e islands o f th e Indo-Malayan Archipelago, since Mr. Wallace obtained i t in
Lombock, and, according to Vieillot, th e original specimens in th e P a ris Museum came
