Mr. F ra se r has supplied us w ith th e fo llom n g de ta ils respecting i t : “ Th is species
I believe to be peculia r to th e island o f F ern an d o Po, where i t is by no means uncommon.
I t frequents th e so lita ry brooks, which everywhere in tersect th a t island. * I ts h abits and
manners, as fa r as o p p o rtu n ity offered o f observing them, were precisely th e same as .those
o f o u r B ritish Kingfisher, p e rch in g u p o n th e over han g in g branches and stones, from
whence i t d a rts upo n th e small fish, w ith which these streams abound.”
T h e MM. V e rreau x also sta te th a t in Gaboon, “ i t frequents th e riv e rs, where i t
feeds on little fishes.”
