Teenish-ochre ; cheeks and ear-coverts black ; a spot in fro n t o f th e eye and a s tn p e from
the base o f th e lower mandible to th e ear-coverts, o ch re ; a n a rrow b a n d o f b r ig h t blue
from th e eye, encircling th e head ; feaüiers of th e nape and back o f th e neck brown tipped
w ith ru fo u s ; back, scapularies and wing-coverts d a rk broA\n, th e tip s o f each feather deep
greenish o ch re ; wing-feathers brownish, th e in n er web lig h t yellowish from th e base,
some o f th e primaries edged and th e secondaries tip p ed w ith gi-eenish ochre ; u nder
surface o f th e body w h itish tin g ed with rufous, especially on th e th ro a t and sides ot the
neck ; u p p e r mandible black, lower mandible yellowish ; feet olive brown. Total length
11 inches, o f b ill from fro n t 1.6, from gape 2.0, win g 4.7, ta il 3.8, ta rsu s 0.6, middle toe
0.75, h in d toe 0.3.
