I refer to th is species th e b ird figured by Buffon (I.e.), because in h is plate he rep re sents
a Kingfisher -with a green cap. Ilav in g , b y an examination o f specimens from Flores,
discovered th a t the species in habiting th is island always has th e cap v e ry distinctly washed
with green, I have separated i t on account o f th is peculiarity, and refer Buffon’s p late to
th e same bird.
