white, more especially on th e secundaries; tail-feathers wh ite a t the base, as also one or
two spots towards th e apex, th e two middle feathers en tirely green ; th ro a t, cheeks, and a
collar ro u n d th e neck, p u re w h ite ; lower p a rt o f th e th ro a t and u pper p a rt o f th e breast
deep ru fo u s ; a line extending from the chin down th e sides o f th e neck g re e n ; flanks
white, plen tifu lly washed with green ; abdomen wh ite ; b ill black ; feet red ; eyes hazel.

I t is difflcult to say whether th e p resen t b ird sliould be reg ard ed as a d istin c t species
o r as only a larg e r race o f th e well-known C. americana. The characteristics separating
