T h is Kingfisher is v e ry closely allied to Cey.c lepicla, from which
separable. I t differs chiefly in its smaller size, b rig h te r back, and iii th e nio ie intei se
oranve o f th e u n d e r parts. My figure is tak en from a female specimmq which on compariso
n I found to b e absolutely identical w ith th e type m th e British Museum. Specimens
fi-om Batchian mid Gilolo a re th e same as those from Ternate.
As I have mentioned in my paper on th e genus Ceyx,
